Genshin Impact is one of the biggest games of 2020, and continues to grow, as we move into 2021. The game is developed by Chinese developers miHoYo and has taken the gaming space by storm. This is also free-to-play and available on a variety of systems including PC, Android, iOS devices, and both PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. If you want to manually update Genshin Impact to the 1.2 version, here how you can do it.

Genshin Impact 1.2 is coming out tomorrow on 23rd December 2020, and this guide is for people that want to be ready for the update, and start playing as soon as it is unlocked by downloading the files through their download manager and not the launcher itself. For everyone else, they will need to update the game when it becomes available.

Manually update Genshin Impact 1.2

You can manually update it to the latest upcoming version by following the steps below. Now, keep in mind, this is only available for PC users at the moment. All other platforms including mobile and PS4 will have to update in the normal way.

  • First off, Update the launcher as normal and make sure you have the latest version with the pre-download option
  • Click the button to Start the pre-download, and then click to pause it
  • Close the Launcher, and make sure it isn’t running the Tasks Manager
  • Head over to your Genshin Impact Game folder. If you have installed it in your C drive, here is the location
C:\Program Files\Genshin Impact\Genshin Impact Game\
  • Here, you want to delete the 1.1.0_1.2.0_diff_05iLh6TP.zip_tmp file
  • Download the following patch from the official Genshin Impact servers using whatever download manager you have, like Internet Download Manager
  • Now, copy the zip file back to the Genshin Impact Game folder (DON’T UNZIP IT)
  • Open the launcher, and it will say Game Pre-Installation Done

That is all you have to do, to pre-patch the game.
