A Plague tale: innocence is an action-adventure game developed by Asobo Studio for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The premise of the game follows the story of two siblings, Amicia and her younger brother Hugo, fighting to survive during the first phase of the Hundred Years’ War and Black Death. Arriving at the topic, it appears that many people are facing high CPU usage when playing the game. As evident by steam forums, you are not alone if your CPU usage is 100 percent while playing. Currently, this seems to be an optimization related issue and according to a response on a Steam thread, the developers behind the game are working on a fix. For now, however, there are a couple of things you can do to mitigate the problem.

How To Fix A Plague Tale: Innocence High CPU Usage Issue

We will use the details tab under task manager to manually tinker with the different cores being used by the game.

Run A Plague Tale: Innocence.
Press the ALT+ENTER keys to switch in windowed mode.
Open Task Manager by pressing the CTRL+SHIFT+ESC keys.
Click the Details tab.
Right click on the APlagueTaleInnocence_x64.exe application > Set affinity.
Uncheck all CPUs from CPU 4 included (only CPUs from CPU 0 to CPU 3 included must be checked).
Close Task Manager.
Press the ALT+ENTER keys to switch back in fullscreen mode

Alternative work Around:

Right click on the Windows Start button > Power Options.
Click on Additional power settings under Related settings on the right.
Check Power saver under Preferred plans or Hide additional plans.
Close Power Options and run A Plague Tale: Innocence.
