Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu also known as Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World is an isekai anime series based on a light novel. The novel is written by Tappei Nagatsuki and illustrated by Shinichirou Ootsuka. The novel is currently being published with the first chapter published on Jan 23, 2014. The anime received a very positive reception by the anime community is probably the highest-rated Isekai anime on MAL. Re:Zero season 2 official dates have been announced. More details down below.
Re:Zero season 1 aired from April 4, 2016, to September 19, 2016. Despite receiving positive reviews the 2nd season was announced after 3 years of initial air date. The official date for Re:Zero season 2 premiere is July 8, 2020.

According to the official website of Re:Zero, season 2 will start airing from July 8, 2020 and that’s not it.
The 2nd season of Re:Zero will be divided into two cours unlike season 1, premiering January 2021.

About Re:Zero Anime
One Day after leaving the conventional store, Natsuki Subaru emergers into an unfamiliar town where he found humans and demi-human living together. The town looks nothing like modern Japan as he knows. Subaru spent most of his time reading comics and playing video games. He assumes he is teleported to a new world wielding super-powerful magic. To his dismay, nothing happens and things go awry as he runs into a group of thugs.
Luckily he finds a silver-haired beauty who is in rush to find an insignia that someone stole from her, saves him from the thugs. To repay her kindness, Subaru offers help to find her insignia. The search eventually leads to a loot shop. Assuming the insignia traded for money, Subaru enters the shop to negotiate for the stolen item but to his surprise, he finds a brutal assassin which led them to their demise.
Instead of finding himself into the afterlife, Subaru is shocked as he finds himself standing alone in the midst of the daytime as if he never left the place in the first place. Thus, his life in the mysterious world starts the 2nd time
