Microsoft makes Windows 8.1 Update 1 Official

Microsoft announced another significant update for Windows, Windows 8.1 update 1 today at its Build developer conference. The update brings many new improvements and features and is specifically designed for users who want to use their computers with mouse and keyboard only.

Windows 8.1 update

Windows 8.1 update automatically handles booting, if you donot have a touch supported device then the operating system will boot to desktop. Moreover when you point your mouse at the bottom of the screen the taskbar will appear. Now you can pin Metro apps in taskbar as well. Metro apps can now be closed completely. “I can confirm one new feature: Metro apps will now include a close box, similar to that seen on desktop applications, which can be clicked with a mouse so that the app closes completely.” Paul Thurrott said.

Windows 8.1-update

The Start Screen has got some new features as well. Now when you will click on a live tile a drop down menu will appear instead of a border that currently appears in original Windows 8.1. The updates also includes major updates to Microsoft Internet Explorer. Some legacy enterprise systems will now be compatible with Windows 8.1. Start menu for Windows is not back yet but Microsoft announced today that it will be coming back in next major update of Windows.

Windows 8.1 update will be available as an automatic upgrade for Windows 8.1 users on 8th of April and yes its free.
