We have seen many Facebook apps for different mobile platforms like Android, iOS, Windows Phone and BlackBerry etc. However it is first app for Desktop platforms, released for Windows 8.1 since Microsoft and Facebook continues their partnership.

Facebook app for Windows 8.1 features:

Coming to the features of the new app, the interface is much alike the web version of Facebook. The main interface containing Status, News Feed and tabs are shown in the center with Chat interface shown at right side. Another side pane is shown on the left of the screen, enabling you to have quick access to News Feed, Messages, Events, and Settings etc. The app also supports touch controls if you have got Touch PC.

The new app also supports the features of Windows 8.1, having live tile support and Search-in functionality as all Windows 8.1 apps have. Facebook app also supports Share charm enabling you to attach the image being viewed to email. The app also support the Snap View feature of Windows 8.1, allowing you to adjust the size of app. Windows 8.1 allows you to have four apps simultaneously on the display which is quite handy. However, you can only adjust 40% of the app window.

Facebook app Requirements and Availability:

As mentioned earlier, the app is only compatible with Windows 8.1 so can’t be installed on other Windows versions even on Windows 8. Windows 8.1 Preview also does not support the app. So first of all, upgrade to Windows 8.1 then download the app from Windows Store and enjoy!
