Xbox Community Content may bring Game Mods to Xbox One

Being a console gamer everyone envies PC gamers admit or not. The reason is nothing but the mods that are available to PC users after release of games, which make the game much more interesting even after a long time of release. The upper hand PC gamers had will no longer be their pride anymore because Microsoft is planning to bring mods to Xbox one games via Xbox Community Content program.

Xbox Community Content:

Microsoft has been now working for quite long to bring mods to Xbox one games. Mods are basically community created maps, skins and other features that are added in the game after the release for Windows PC games. Microsoft however is working on Xbox Community Content program that will enable these mods to be available for Xbox games also.

Most of the gaming studios have already set up their system to brings mods to their games. But Microsoft is also bring up a new system that will provide a platform and basic infrastructure for these mods to be made but also will create a new section for these mods in the Xbox Store. This will make the searching of mods more easy.

 

Xbox Community Content: Availability

Microsoft Xbox Community Content program provides infrastructure to help the users create mods for different games. Expected availability is later this summer. It will enable the developer to determine what their mods will look like. Developer could make not only skin or texture updates but could also add different maps and weapons and many other features to the games.

Xbox store and Mods:

A specific section will be kept reserved for those games that will utilize this Xbox Community Content platform. To help in better searching of these mods developers will provide metadata for their games. Helping to the searching of mods to be more easier and fast in Xbox Store and Xbox Clubs. It will be totally on the developers how they will offer their services. Whether they want their mods to be paid or to be free. Also Microsoft is helping the developer to promote their mods using Xbox’s live social features.
