Windows Store had 1.7 million daily app downloads in October

Microsoft introduced Windows Store with the launch of  Windows 8 about a year ago and it is continuously growing since its launch. Microsoft updated the store with the launch of  Windows 8.1. The new store brought new looks and many new free and paid apps.Windows store achieved a great milestone in October. About 52 million apps were downloaded in the month of October. That averages to about 1.7 Million daily app downloads breaking the records of apps downloads set in June by Windows Store (1.2 million in June). It is about 38% more apps downloads as in June. This is amazingly large number but Microsoft will have to work hard to catch up Apple AppStore downloads, which averages to about 75 million daily downloads.

Windows Store

Developers are adding lot and lots of apps every month to Windows Store. In June 19,000 new apps were added to Windows Store. In July 12,000 new apps were added, 5,400 in August, 5,100 in September and finally 7,300 apps were added in last month of October. The rate of growth is acceptable and we hope it will increase further. On the other hand Windows Phone store is also growing at much faster rate as it has grown 136% in last month. It seems that Microsoft is on right path.
