How to fix Destiny 2 Performance, FPS Drop and Controller Issues on AMD Radeon GPU

We've been waiting a long time now

Many Destiny 2 players have been facing performance issues such as FPS drops and frame stutters despite a lot of time being passed since it has been released. However, all of the users who complained had AMD graphic cards in their system. The users who had Nvidia cards experienced no such problem. This caused Destiny 2 developers, Bungie, to face angry gamer comments.

Furthermore, using a Bluetooth controller with Destiny 2, would kill performance. On mouse and keyboard, or non-Bluetooth controllers, you’d get your normal performance. It was always brutal to go to r/destinytechsupport and see all the issues people were having with AMD GPUs. There are over 900 comments on the Bungie forums thread about it too. The majority with the same issue were doing The Tangled Shore Override mission at 20-25 FPS.

AMD Radeon™ Software Adrenalin 21.6.1

However, today AMD released the new AMD Radeon™ Software Adrenalin 21.6.1. One of the release notes says under the Fixed Issues heading. ” Some Radeon Graphics products may experience lower than expected performance in Destiny 2™ when compared to previous Radeon Software versions.” Destiny 2 gamers using AMD GPUs have been waiting for years for this fix. This new driver completely fixed the performance issues anyone was having in the game. You can read the rest of the release notes here.

People are super happy after this new driver release fixed their issue in Destiny 2. They were starting to doubt their card and even regret buying it over the Nvidia cards. But no more, as thanks to AMD, they solved these gamers’ problem.

Fix Destiny 2 performance issue

If you have an AMD GPU and are still facing issues in Destiny 2 then you probably have not updated your graphic card drivers. Open the AMD Adrenaline Software and it should prompt you that a new update for your GPU is available.

If you cannot find such an option on your software, then follow the below steps.

  • Install and run DDU.
  • In the drop down menu of Select Graphic Driver, choose AMD.

(I have an Nvidia graphic card so I have selected Nvidia over here)
  • Click on Clean and restart.
  • Now you have completely removed the already installed AMD drivers so installing a clean and fresh driver software won’t cause any overlapping problems with the previous one.
  • Go and download the new AMD Radeon™ Software Adrenalin 21.6.1 by going here and select your GPU from the drop-down list and click Submit.

  • Select your Operating System for e.g. Windows 10 and click Download.

  • When you start the software, it will automatically detect your Graphic Card and install the new drivers.

And that is it. You are all set to start do missions on an FPS higher than what a PlayStation 1 provides.
