On the opening of the Cencoroll Connect film screenings, Director Atsuya Uki announced the Cencoroll 3 anime sequel movie is greenlit for production.
Cencoroll is an original anime movie series based on one shot, Amon Game by Atsuya Uki. The one-shot won Kodansha’s “Afternoon Four Seasons Awards” grand prize in 2005. An anime movie was inspired by the one shot and the sequel Cencoroll 2 also known as Cencoroll Connect will premiere today, on June 2019 both of which were directed by the original creator of the one-shot. A new sequel, Cencoroll 3 has been greenlit production as announced by Uki.
Cencoroll 3 Anime Sequel Announced
According to the director, the sequel anime will be the finale in the series and a still teaser was also revealed which you can check out down below. MAL describes the story of the first movie as,
When a gigantic, unearthly monster suddenly looms on the skyline of a Japanese city, the expected occurs—the Japan Self-Defense Forces roll out the tanks while the public panics. Nobody knows what it is or where it came from, but Yuki, a bold and inquisitive teenage girl, has a secret but might be a useful clue. Her friend Tetsu has been clandestinely caring for a bizarre creature called Cenco, which will soon prove itself to have some remarkable, even impossible characteristics. Another teenage boy, a stranger with some mysterious link to the monstrosity attacking the city, shows up, and his unwelcome interest in Tetsu’s pet snuffs out any doubt of a connection—and lights the fuse for the coming battle.
After 10 years a sequel to the first movie was released, however, Uki mentioned the fans will not have to wait another 10 years for the finale but it will be done as quickly as possible. Aniplex will be screening the 2nd movie at Anime Expo on July 4. The joint screening is playing in six theaters in Japan. The artist ryo of supercell returned to compose the music.

Originally, Cencoroll 2 was slated to premiere in 2014 and most of the work regarding designing, directing, the writing was done by Uki himself. Considering the movie has just been greenlit for production, fans can expect the movie release date to be in 2021 or 2022.
