Apple announced iOS 9 with brand new Siri, Multitasking and improved Maps

At WWDC today, Apple announced Mac OS X and iOS 9 with a number of new features and improvements including a new Siri, Split Screen multitasking and improved Apple Maps. Here is a brief detail of some main new features in iOS 9.

Siri proactive:

Apple introduced an all-new Siri in iOS 9. Now Siri is mostly like Google Now, which means it will help you in a lot of ways without even asked by you. Siri will now keep track of your location and connected devices. It will help you in a lot of ways. For example you receive a text from someone asking you to pick up a cup of tea, Siri will offer you to remind you about this task. Siri will add the reminder in your calendar instantly. Similarly invites received via email can be directly added to calendar now.

Moreover, if you get a call from an unknown person, Siri will show you the details about that person fetching from your email history if you ever contacted with that person in the past.

Apple News App:

Apple introduced a Flipboard like news app for iOS called Apple News. Apple partnered with a number of media publishing sites for its news app. The New York Times will publish 30 free articles daily on Apple News. ESPN will bring video clips and infographics.

Multitasking for iPad:

iOS 9 brings true split screen multitasking for Apple iPad. Now you can run 2 apps simultaneously on the same screen. The apps will either take 50/50 on screen or 70/30. Currently, you cannot resize how exactly you want them to be. It means you can now watch a video while browsing through the web at the same time. The multitasking feature is not new for the tablets. Samsung has been offering it for quite and time now and Microsoft Surface can also do multitasking.

Apple Maps:

Apple Maps are significantly improved now. Maps will now give you even walking directions from one stop to another. Even big subway stations are mapped out so maps can take you to next place underground. All nearby locations can be viewed by a single tap and you will be able to see that which location supports Apple Pay.

Notes:

The notes app in iOS 9 is very handy to use with an easy to use new keyboard, It allows you to add photos, create checklists and even add drawings to your notes. Notes will be synced between Mac and iOS devices over iCloud.

Apple Car Play:

Apple Car Play is now wire free. It will show up in your cars screen even when your phone is locked and in your pocket or in your dashboard. A number of cars from different manufacturers will now come with Apple Car Play support.

Availability:

iOS 9 Public Beta will be available in July. The stable version will come in fall this year. iOS 9 will be available for every device currently running iOS 8 which means iPhone 4S and newer and iPad 2 and newer devices are supported.
