We’ve all been in one situation or the other where we are needed to scan some document to have it in a digital form. But, more often than not, we realize we don’t own a scanner and end up going to printing shops that charge money (often more than we think is necessary) to get our document scanned. On Friday, global software giant Adobe launched their new app called Abode Scan. As we can guess from its name, the app allows the users to turn their smartphone into a text-recognition tool and a scanning device.
This amazing new app is available on both iOS and Android. The intelligent app provides the users with a digital version of their physical documents, and even allows the user to edit them. Using it is pretty simple; users can either take a picture of the document that they want to be scanned, or use an already existing image from their camera roll. The images are then turned into a clear Adobe PDF format by the app.
“Adobe Scan turns your phone or tablet into a powerful scanning and text recognition tool that converts printed text into digital text that can then be re-used wherever you need it,” was said by Adobe in their blog post.
As this app is powered by Adobe’s Sensei’s intelligent services, it has features like automatic boundary detection, crop and capture, auto-clean and perspective correction, shadow removal and visual text clarity enhancement.
The users of this app would have access to a free Adobe Document Cloud, where they can make an account to automatically store, upload, share and access the scanned files whenever they want.
Some Android users have complained about the app not being completely accurate, and some document not being editable. Even with the existence of issues like that, this app is a pioneer in mobile scanning technology. It is expected that the algorithms would be improved with time, and all of us would be able to utilize all its features without complaints.
