According to a tweet from NintendoVS, an official Twitter account of Nintendo’s competitive fighting scene, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Patch 3.1.0 is dropping later this week. The most significant feature of the update will be the way your replays work.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Patch 3.1.0 Patch Detailed

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Patch 3.1.0 will bring a lot of fixes and more, but the most important thing you need to do to prepare for the update is to ready your replay files. Just like the tweet mentions, all you have to do is go boot up your game and go to the Vault -> Replays -> Replay Data -> Convert to video.

This will save your replay (if you have any that are worth saving) as the new update will automatically make your replays incompatible with the new version of the patch.

According to data miners, the patch was inevitable, pending an official announcement from Nintendo.

Buff’s or Nerfs Incoming?

While we don’t have details on the exact patch notes regarding the fighters that will be affected, or if any are going to get buffed or nerfed, you can expect the full patch notes to be up as soon as the patch drops.

The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate meta is in a very odd place right now, and this has led to some people using Pichu, Snake, and Wolf to name a few as their mains. All the while, we are seeing Kirby, Bowser, King K. Rool, and other fighters get low pick rates because of being comparatively weaker when compared to the aforementioned fighters.

June is going to be a busy month for Smash, and considering there are some planned professional tournaments happening in the dates leading to E3 for Smash and Splatoon, a balance patch is much needed so that a more competitive and fair game can be in the cards.

While we can’t really guess when the patch will drop, we hope it drops by the coming Thursday or Friday with proper patch notes to follow.

What are your hopes for the upcoming patch? Who do you want to see get a boost and which character do you want to see taken down a peg?
