Comparison: Xbox One X (Project Scorpio) vs PS4 Pro

Xbox One X vs PlayStation 4 Pro

It has been quite some time since Microsoft had announced their ultimate machine the game changer the ultimate console which was going under the name Project Scorpio. The Xbox Scorpio has been released under the  name Xbox One x.

Xbox One X

Microsoft has been boasting that they have made the ultimate machine that will be a beast at performing the high end gaming experience that no console ever has performed yet. But to me its not only about the specs but the content and the games that will be worth playing on the console not to mention the user interface. Which brings me to the console which in terms of gaming experience based on my personal experience steal the show is the Sony PS4 pro.

Although Sony did not hold the title for 4K HDR gaming for too long but they were the first to step in to that category and steal the crowd. With the introduction of 4K HDR gaming along with its exclusive title “horizon zero dawn” as the face of impressive graphics that stunned the console gamers or i can say the Sony PS4 Pro users. All I can say is sony prematurely stole the show.

Starting of with the Xbox one x. Why One x ? Why not Xbox scorpio or Xbox two. Well it is called Xbox one X is because it is extremely powerful.

Xbox fans have been hyped for the system since the original announcement in 2016 and at this years E3 Microsoft reveals the most powerful game console ever made. Its is very impressive of what it is capable of so lets sum up with every thing we know about the console as well as comparing it to the ps4 pro spec wise and from many other aspects.

Xbox One X vs PS 4 Comparison

The CPU (central processing unit)

The Xbox one x with a price tag of $499 specification wise the CPU is an x86 eight eight core processor running at 2.3 gigahertz compared to Ps4 pros eight core cpu running at 2.1 gigahertz however the cpu is 60 nanometers and the console has other tricks of its sleeve. Unlike the industry standard management the Xbox one X has a custom system named the Hovis method that ensures that the power is delegated where and when necessary to ensure the console is running at optimum efficiency at all time. This is the first for any game console.

 The GPU (graphical processing unit)

The Xbox one X has 6 teraflops of graphical processing power clocked at 1.1 gigahertz where as the ps4 pro has 4.2 teraflops of graphical processing power running at 911 megahertz . There is no doubt that there is a major leap forward  in the GPU in Xbox one X Xbox One X CPUwith 4 gigabits of more graphic memory and a very noticeable 30% more teraflops than the ps4 pro and the Xbox one s which had a measly 8 gigabit of ddr3 graphics memory. This gives the games of the Xbox one X a great advantage of that larger pool of graphical memory.

Memory Bandwidth

Additionally  Xbox one X has 326 gigabytes of memory bandwidth compared to ps4 pro’s 218 gigabyte of memory bandwidth which means the Xbox one  acts as a 108 extra gigs of memory bandwidth. Which means the the Xbox one will be able to draw higher quality images on screen at a much faster rate compared to the ps4 pro giving the Xbox one X a leverage in graphical performance. It isn’t about make the games look pretty, it’s also about making games run at their best performance with higher frame rate, super high quality texture, the ambient light occlusion and etc being drawn at ridiculous speeds which is beyond any other console that we have today.

The Cooling System

Console CoolingMicrosoft Stepped ahead by using liquid cooled vapour chamber technology which is first for any console ever made designed to cool the high-end component the CPU and GPU making it an extremely efficient due to remarkable design of spreading heat. It’s mostly in premium products and  Microsoft are selling Xbox one X as their premium console. Its a monster as they say and to keep the monster calm and cool you’ll need one brilliant and reliable cooling system so the $499 for a complete system actually sounds quite reasonable when you think about it.

Sony on the other hand used the same convectional Aluminum and copper heatsink system just slightly upscaled which would still not be efficient as the Xbox One X cooling system. There were also articles relating to the PS4 Pro operating at high temperatures that caused the casing to melt from the fan outlet.

Physical Appearance

In my opinion I loved the PS4 old phat design with a parallelogram angular shape and colored semi gloss and matte but the PS4 Pro appearance is in my opinion bulky and a stack of rectangular pan cakes arranged diagonally. The Xbox one X is surprisingly the same size as the Xbox One S and has a lot more power than any of console in the market. It is remarkable that Microsoft has intelligently packed all components paired with the new cooling liquid vapor technology that is more compact and efficient. Overall the Xbox one X in my opinion is decent compact looking and a well organised piece of ingenuity.

Need an expensive television after buying One X or the PS4 Pro?

If you are opting to buy a PS4 Pro you need an expensive 4K HDR TV to see a noticeable difference in the PS4 and PS4 Pro. In terms of Xbox one X the output from the console is so refined that even your normal HD TV will give a sharp and much more detailed output not to mention a reduced loading time.

Final Verdict

In all the comparison done above the Xbox One X dominates the PS4 Pro in every aspect. The only thing that Microsoft has to work on is releasing breath taking titles that would immerse the gamers even more visually and mentally. But don’t be afraid if you can’t upgrade your console yet. The title will run on both version of the console the old and the upgraded model.
