It’s been over a year and a half since we are hearing about the Samsung Youm, a prototype of a smartphone with a curved display that wrapped around the right hand side. Samsung announced today that the Youm’s spiritual successor named the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. That is to be expected out this fall.

So we have already seen the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 at IFA 2014. But here is the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. The of course tell by the name comes with a bend display. This has virtually the same specs as the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 but a little bit wider to make the room for the edge display. It comes with the same 5.7” inch super Amoled quad HD display as Galaxy Note 4. Moreover a small battery 3000mAh as compared with Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

The Edge is a kind of interesting thing. It shows you Notifications, contains some of the important shortcuts, you can customize and add some pictures on the Edge bar and much much more. When you using camera all the shortcuts and camera setting pop ups on the Edge so may find it better to use.

One of the handiest use cases for me is the night clock, which does exactly what it sounds like a black and white digital clock will appear while the screen is dark. So whether you’re sleeping in bed and your phone is on the night stand, or if you’re just at your desk and want to see the time, the bent display makes this a rather ideal option. It’s probably not enough to justify spending the extra money for a new phone, but it’s just one example of the flourishes Samsung has added to give the edge screen enough functional value, instead of being just another way for the company to show off its manufacturing talents.
