How to Reduce Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Size on Consoles

It’s been a few months since Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was released. The game took a whopping 150+ GB size on consoles and PC. With new seasons, battle passes the game is getting huge. This is becoming a big problem for people with small disk space especially console owners. With advanced tech, the size of upcoming games is getting huge and 100+GB is getting a standard size for most AAA titles. Fret not, you can always reduce Call of Duty: Modern Warfare size on consoles, and here’s how.

Ashton Williams, sr. communications manager at Infinity Ward also tweeted, that the team is working on sweeping assets to reduce the size on wherever they can. IW is also working on optimizing future patches for size.

We're continuing to sweep all assets to make size reductions where we can, and also further optimize future patches for size. If helpful, one reminder for console players, you can uninstall the content packs for modes that you're not playing if you want to free up space.

How to Reduce Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Size

If you’re looking to wipe up some space on your consoles HDD you can delete the DLC packs that you no longer want to use anymore. Here’s what you need to do:

For Xbox One:

1. Launch Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
2. When you reach the main menu, select Options.
3. Navigate to the General tab.
4. Scroll to the bottom and select Game Installs.
5. Highlight any DLC pack installs you wish to uninstall.
   • Data Pack 1 – required for access to Campaign, Multiplayer, and Spec Ops
   • Campaign Pack 1 (Xbox One only) – required to play Campaign
   • Campaign Pack 2 (Xbox One only) – required to play Campaign
   • Multiplayer Pack (Xbox One only) – required to play Multiplayer
   • Multiplayer Pack 2 – required to play Multiplayer
   • Special Ops Pack – required to play Special Ops
   • Special Ops Pack 2 – required to play Special Ops
6. Select Uninstall, then select Confirm.

For PlayStation 4

Follow all of the steps above and in step 5 select:

• Survival Pack (PlayStation 4 only) – required to play Special Ops Survival
• Select Uninstall, then Confirm.

Can I Reinstall any of the removed DLC again?

Yes, if you wish to play to revisit the DLC you uninstalled you can always install them again from your respective platform’s store. Hope this helped you in sweeping up some space on your console’s HDD.
