Original Xbox Games Backward Compatibility Are Now Live For Xbox One S

Xbox One X

It was only yesterday that Walking Cat (h0x0d) told about the first wave of Original Xbox Games Backward Compatibility that would be added to the list of Backward Compatible library on the Xbox One S.

While the leaker mentioned 12 games, it seems that Microsoft has added a bonus game into the mix along the originally forecasted ones, which is a pleasant surprise for anyone who missed it the first time.

The first list of Original Xbox Games Backward Compatibility

You can see that the leak was more or less spot on, and according to gematsu, Black has also been added to the list. Making the list come up to 13 titles instead of the original 12. (14 if we count the addition of Xbox One X Enhanced Halo 3)

  • Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
  • Dead to Rights
  • Red Faction 2
  • Fuzion Frenzy
  • Black
  • King of Fighters Neowave
  • Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
  • Ninja Gaiden Black
  • Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge
  • Sid Meiers: Pirates!
  • Psychonauts
  • Bloodrayne 2
  • Grabbed by Ghoulies.

The games are available digitally and will work right out of the box if you have the physical copies of the game, just like previous Xbox 360 backward compatible titles that have been added in the past.

If you are curious about what the games look like, IGN has already made comparison videos.

You can see the most distinctive difference is better colors and sharper textures, which is truly an upgrade for such aged games!

These are currently the first wave of games that are being worked on by Microsoft with plenty of more games in the pipeline for the Original Xbox and the Xbox 360. Halo 3 also managed to sneak its way into the Xbox One X Enhanced games list in the same announcement and you can see it also gets a very nice facelift.

As you can see, this is indeed a memorable day for Microsoft. They have truly given the fans a great number of titles to rejoice over, along with one of the most important games that the Xbox 360 fans have been waiting for to make its way to the Xbox One.

You can view the Microsoft Store listing by going here. You can also visit that page to find new games and additions to the library if Microsoft does announce any new titles to be added to the list of backward compatible titles.

With all of this out of the way, we would love to know your thoughts on the current line up. Do you have any of the games in the list or are you gonna buy them digitally? Let us know in the comments section below!
