Nokia says final goodbye to Symbian and MeeGo

Nokia announced two months back in October that it will be closing its OVI Store on January 1, 2014 and this is it. The day has arrived. Symbian Signed Team officially announced on its Twitter account that Symbian is closed now. It means that developers won’t be able to publish new apps or update existing ones. It simply means that there will not be any new apps available to existing Symbian and MeeGo users. But existing apps will be available to download for users. Have a look on the tweet made by Symbian team:

Symbian is the first mobile OS launched a decade ago. It retained its position as more popular Mobile OS for more than eight years. But when Android and iOS were released then Symbian had to face a major downfall. Then Nokia took a major step and made partnership with Microsoft to make Windows Phone mobiles. At start, it looked like Nokia took a wrong decision to make partnership with Microsoft, instead it should had made partnership with Android as Windows Phone OS was not as popular as Android was. But Nokia worked hard and put their all effort in making Windows Phone better and better and Nokia did it. Now Microsoft Windows Phone is fastest growing mobile OS. Recently, Sony showed its interest in making Windows Phone and will release it this year. So if Nokia and Microsoft continued to work like this, Windows Phone will grow and grow definitely like this.
