The immensely popular game- Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice- has been shortlisted for Xbox game of the year Golden Joystick award. That is right, the game came out on PC and Ps4 on Aug 8 last year while on the Xbox One system it was released in April this year. the game has done marginally well on all major platforms and we were not all that surprised that it has been shortlisted for the award owing to the abundance of positive reviews from the critics and players alike.

Hellblade is an is a dark fantasy action-adventure game developed and published by Ninja Theory. Inspired by Norse mythology and Celtic culture, Hellblade follows the story of Senua who is a Pict warrior who must make her way to Helheim by defeating otherworldly entities and facing their challenges, in order to rescue the soul of her dead lover from the goddess Hela. The story and the eerie and yet oddly exciting game is what has reeled so many people into the game. It is by far one of the most immersive and emotionally straining experiences you can get out of a game.

The news about the shortlisting for the award came from the developer NinjaTheory themselves. In a tweet posted just recently, they announced,

As every year, this year’s Golden JoySticks Award will be live-streamed on November 16th.
