Warner Bros. has lately been having a few casting issues is the potential Suicide Squad, which is starting to get just as tempting – if not a little more intriguing – than the Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. The Batman V Superman will be the movie that will introduce us to the new cinematic universe of DC. David Ayer is supposed to direct the upcoming Suicide Squad and Jared Leto might just play Joker. All that discussed, Margot Robbie might just get to be Joker’s maniacal soul mate, Harley Quinn.
This according to Collider, which quotes sources to report that Margot Robbie “will play Harley Quinn” in the villain ensemble thriller. Harley has always been a key member of various Suicide Squad teams in the comic books and Margot Robbie might just pull off the drama and energy required for the character.
Casting Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn makes a lot of sense too, even if we haven’t seen her outside of The Wolf of Wall Street. After the movie, Margot Robbie has scored roles in Warner Bros.’ Tarzan and Focus. Her worlds are changing and it is highly likely that her profile gets boosted by the time Suicide Squad makes it to theatres in 2016.
Now here’s a story. Suicide Squad is going to be released the pretty much the same year as Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. So here’s the thing, there is going to be much time for the producers to manage all the starting or origin story of the villains. Which means that the Suicide Squad movie will be bring all the origin stories of the deranged villains along with it.
Wouldn’t it be better if there were more known actors in the movie? Margot Robbie is gorgeous, but will she be able to pull of the lunacy of Harley Quinn? Will she able to be the soul mate of Jared Leto’s Joker (if that rumor does come to life)?
