Intel 9th Gen processors are finally hitting retailers. Although Intel is yet to announce the processors officially we have already some online stores that have listed the Intel 9th gen processors for preorder. This year’s refresh will be based on improvements to Intel’s existing 14nm process, as the company continues to delay its production of 10nm Cannon Lake chips until 2019. Intel is expected to unveil new Core i9, i7, and i5 chips that will be branded as 9th generation processors.
The 9th Gen processors, codenamed Coffee Lake Refresh, are a direct iteration to last year’s Coffee Lake 8th Gen processors. The 9th Gen processors don’t improve on the architecture which is the same as last year’s 14nm, instead, it builds on last year’s Canon Lake by improving other aspects of the processors.
Now we don’t know much about Intel 9th Gen processors other than the sporadic leaks that have come out in past few weeks but we do know that they are not the 10nm process that everyone has been anticipating. Intel is still working out the kinks for its 10nm process based CPUs which are now expected to arrive sometime next year. As for the 9th Gen CPUs, Intel is expected to officially announce them today at a press event which will be held at 10 AM ET.
