Design and Display

The Huawei Honor 8 Lite comes with a 5.2-inch display with an amazing 1080p resolution. 1080p resolution is quite good for a mid-range smartphone.

I’ve to say, I loved the design of this phone. It feels premium in hands and is easy to use with one hand. The power bottom and volume buttons are easily accessible and can be pressed without moving your hand up and down.

The phone has a glass back and metal sides. Stereo speakers are mounted at the bottom and there is a 3.5mm headphones jack at the top.

The camera lens is present at the top right corner with a LED flash. The phone has a dual microphone for stereo audio recording. A fingerprint sensor is mounted at the back side of the phone which is easily accessible.

Hardware

The phone comes with HiSilicon Kirin 655 chipset with Octa-core (4×2.1 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.7 GHz Cortex-A53) CPU and Mali-T830MP2 GPU. The hardware is powerful enough to handle the most demanding games available for Android.

The RAM is 3GB which will ensure smooth multitasking. Internal storage is 16 GB which can be expanded by a Micro SD card up to 256 GB. Keep in mind that it’dual-SIM phone and the Micro SD card uses the SIM 2 slot.

Camera

The camera is a 12 MP unit which can record 1080p@30fps and 480p@120fps slo-mo video.

The camera on Huawei Honor 8 Lite is pretty amazing. We tested the cameras both outdoor and indoor. It captures excellent photos both in daylight and low light. Video quality is also good in both conditions. Honestly, the slo-mo video quality is quite bad.

Here are some of the sample images from Samsung Galaxy J1 mini prime camera both indoor and outdoor:

Here is the outdoor video sample of the main camera.

Performance

The phone comes with an octa-core processor and 3 GB RAM. The overall performance is smooth and does not feel laggish at all. Opening more than 10 apps may make the phone slow.

We tested some popular and most demanding games like Asphalt Xtreme and Mortal Kombat X and the performance of these games were excellent. The games worked smoothly and did not lag even once.

We also tested its AnTuTu performance. It scored 54,258 which is excellent for a mid-range phone.

Battery and Software

The Huawei Honor 8 Lite has a 3,000 mAh battery which easily lasts a whole day on normal-heavy. It can also last for up to 2 days on light usage.

The phone comes with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and will receive regular updates from Huawei for up to 18 months.

The phone costs PKR 25,000 (around $240 USD) and can be purchased from local markets.
