How to Root Galaxy S5 G900F (International Model) with CF Auto Root?

Samsung Galaxy S5 has not been released yet. Still having days in its release, the famous xda developer Chainfire has successfully rooted the device. The developer has managed to root Galaxy S5 G900F. Remember, Galaxy S5 G900F is the International model of the handset.

Well, as we know, the flagship is scheduled to release on 11th April. But still having two weeks before its release, we are getting updates and guides regarding it. Previously, we learnt how to manually download first official Galaxy S5 firmware.

Coming back to our discussion, here we brings you the guide to Galaxy S5 G900F (International Model). The tutorial includes the use of Chainfire Auto-Root tool and ODIN app.

Root Galaxy S5 G900F International Model with CF Auto Root:

The procedure is quite similar to other ‘rooting’ tutorials. The tutorial includes the installation of SuperSU binary and the Stock Recovery. Before you begin to root Galaxy S5 G9005, consider these pre-requisites:

  • Back up your device as in case, you brick your device, you can revert back.
  • Download the Samsung USB drivers from here.
  • Go to Developer Options in Settings to enable ‘Debugging Mode’ on your device.
  • Disable any Antivirus or Samsung KIES software if working.
  • Remove any external SD card.
  • Do have more than 50% of battery on your device to proceed without any interruption.
  • Remember, rooting you device will VOID your WARRANTY.

Step by Step Tutorial to Root Galaxy S5 G900F:

Now, let’s move to the actual procedure of ‘rooting’. Here is the step-by-step guide:

    1. Download the Chainfire’s Auto Root tool from here.
    2. Extract the contents of the file to a folder on your PC.
    3. Download ODIN v3.09 from here (Source 1 | Source 2 ). Extract the contents to the same folder on PC.
    4. Install the ODIN tool on your PC.
    5. Switch off you Galaxy S5 device.
    6. Reboot the device in ‘Download Mode’.
    7. Run ODIN tool on your PC.
    8. Connect your device with PC.
    9. If the tool recognizes your device, the ID:COM section on the tool will turn ‘Yellow’ or ‘Blue’. Otherwise, install the drivers again or try reconnecting the cable.
    10. On ODIN, click on AP button.
    11. Browse for the extracted Chainfire Auto Root tool on your PC (Step 1).
    12. Simply without making any further change, click on Start button to begin the rooting process.
    13. Once the process completes, your device will automatically reboot turning the ID:COM section on ODIN Green. Also, the tool will display ‘Pass’ message.

You are good to go as you have successfully rooted your device. But you may not get the Pass message. Here are the TROUBLESHOOTING Concerns:

  • ODIN says the process was passed, but the Galaxy S5 isn’t able to boot in normal mode
    • In this case you need to Factory Reset your device. To do so, turn off the device. Boot the device in ‘Recovery Mode’. Select ‘Wipe Data/Factory Reset’ option. Confirm and reboot the device in ‘Normal Mode.
  • ODIN fails to root your device
    • In such case, follow the whole tutorial again. You may have missed some steps. Try to follow each and every step so that to succeed in rooting your device.
