CEMU is the highly acclaimed closed source Wii U emulator for PC that brings you the ability to play many Nintendo titles on your computer. The project began back in 2015 and over the years the emulator has only improved. The latest version of the emulator is CEMU 1.15.10. The development team behind this emulator puts out updates every week. CEMU has come a long way in terms of performance and usability, users can experience flawless gameplay for such popular games like Legend of Zelda: Breath of the wild and Super Mario Odyssey on PC. Today, I will show you how to download and install CEMU 1.15.10 for Windows and play Nintendo games on your computer.

Before we begin, do note that you will need a capable gaming PC to run this emulator. However, if your PC does not have top of the line specs, thanks to the many settings offered by CEMU, you will be able to run many games albeit not on maximum settings. Here is how it goes.

Operating System: Windows 7 (x64) or above
Graphics: Nivdia / AMD +  OpenGL 4.1 minimum (4.6 is used if available)
RAM: 4 GB minimum, 8 GB or more recommended
Additional Software: Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 X64 Redistributable –  vc_redist.x64.exe

Download and Setup Guide CEMU 1.15.10 for Windows

Follow the simple steps below and you will have CEMU running on your PC in no time. All the required files have been provided below, simply click on the embedded links.

Needed Files + Download Links:

Step 1- First download the latest version of CEMU emulator i.e. CEMU 1.15.10 for Windows. Once you have download the emulator you will need to download another file called CEMU Hook from here.

Step 2- Now go to the download folder and extract the CEMU emulator into a new folder using whichever compression program you have on your PC i.e. 7zip, WinRAR, etc.

Step 3- Now you will need to copy the compressed CEMU Hook file that you downloaded earlier into the CEMU folder. Once copied, simply right click and choose “extract here” as shown below

Step 4- Once you have extracted CEMU Hook you will get two new .dll files in your folder. Which you can see below:

Step 5- Now right click on CEMU.exe and go into the properties. Click on the compatibility tab and check “Run this program as an administrator” and “Disable fullscreen optimizations” as shown below.

 

Step 6-  Don’t save CEMU Properties dialogue box yet. Click on “Change high DPI settings” and check “Program DPI” and “Override high DPI scaling behavior” as shown below. Once done, click “OK” and then click on “Apply”.

Step 8- Now let us run the emulator for the very first time and configure some more settings. Double click on CEMU.exe. When the CEMU window appears, look at the bottom and click the “download now” button to download shared fonts. This is important!

Step 10- Now click on the “Options” tab at the top and then “General Settings”. Now we will set game paths. To do this simply click on the button that says “game paths” and select the folder where you have stored your Wii U games. If you don’t have this folder, simply make a folder named “WiiUGames” in your desired partition. Don’t worry if you don’t have any games downloaded right now. We will be covering that in a separate guide.

Step 11- Once done click on “MLC Path” and now make a folder named “CEMU Backup” anywhere then make another folder called “mlc01” inside it. Click on the select folder and “mlc01” will be added.

Step 12- Now close the general settings window and all of your games will show up in the CEMU window. If the list is empty don’t worry we will be covering separately how to download games for CEMU.

Well, finally you are done. You can now simply click on your games and start them up. I will be doing a follow-up article where I will show you the best graphical settings for CEMU so keep an eye out for that.
