A Tale of George R. R. Martin, HBO, and Game of Thrones

George R. R. Martin

All the diehard fans of Game of Thrones, George R. R. Martin has come to bust your bubble once again (like all the times he killed a Stark in the books). He has foreseen a possibility that HBO might kill off Game of Thrones before he finishes the last book of the series. Now that is some next level acquisition but here are all the proofs to back up this theory.

“Anything is possible”, George R. R. Martin told GeekWire at the Sasquan science-fiction convention in Spokane, Washington.

George R. R. Martin read a chapter from the upcoming sixth book “The Winds of Winter” in the “A Song of Ice and Fire” novels on which Game of Thrones is primarily based on. The novels are expected to end with the seventh book. Although there are some rumors that it will end with an eighth book (later with this).

Earlier this month, HBO’s highest-ranking programming executive said that the network plans for the series to end after its eighth season. Already HBO has outpaced the books in its fifth season. No spoilers ahead, I give you my word.

“The show is moving forward like a locomotive, or sometimes a jet locomotive,” George R. r. Martin said. “They’re writing 60-page scripts, I’m writing 1,500-page novels. So who the hell knows?”

You do the math.

Martin has accepted the possibility that the series will beat the books, this thought bothered him and had come across his mind several times.

“Worrying about it isn’t going to change it one way or another,” he said. “I still sit down at the typewriter, and I have to write the next scene and the next sentence … I’m just going to tell my story, and they’re telling their story and adapting my books, and we shall see.”

While “The Winds of Winter” doesn’t have a publish date yet, the next season of Game of Thrones has a most likely chance of April 2016 as a return date with shooting already in motion.
