Sherlock Season 4 to start filming in 2015

Sherlock Season 4

The most anticipated TV show of the decade is coming to life. Sherlock Holmes, the crazy detective will strike on your television screens yet again, most probably in 2016. How do we know this? Well just yesterday, Sherlock star Martin Freeman seemed to be talking out of turn yet again by hinting that the series would return first for a Christmas Special. This would happen before an official Season 4.

But somewhere the word “bollocks” was shouted and today, Steven Moffat has made an official announcement on Sherlock’s return. Previously, Rebecca placed a bet that we’d get the next season of Sherlock in the year 2038. But we all knew that was way too far away. However, yesterday we saw a post on Nerdist referencing an interview he did with The Telegraph in which he precisely said:

“If that’s going to be a special – I’m speaking off-message here; if this was New Labour I’d get fired – I think that might be for next Christmas. A Christmas special. That’s what I understand.”

He later added that filming in early 2015 was “pretty likely”. According to other reliable sources, Sherlock Season 4 will indeed start filming in January of 2015. Moffat said:

“A special, plus a new series of three episodes — it’s a record-breaking run! Of course, it’s far too early to say what’s coming, but we’re reasonably confident that the very next thing to happen to Sherlock and John, is the very last thing you’d expect…”

Executive Producer Sue Vertue added:

“It’s taken a little while to get the dates sorted as none of the boys are exactly sitting back twiddling their thumbs but there was unanimous goodwill to make this work, so we’re thrilled that 221b is going to be inhabited again.”

According to news it will be the special episode which will be shooting in January, while the rest of the season will be done later that year. So far it seems the next Sherlock we’ll see will be Christmas of 2015 with season 4 airing in 2016.

But we all know, Sherlock is worth the wait.
