The Game Awards did give us a first look at the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC character. With Joker from Persona 5 being the first DLC character of the 5 planned ones. While the surprise was pleasant, there seems to be a strong speculation that this has hinted towards a full-on release of Persona 5 on Nintendo Switch that will come in 2019.
Persona 5 on Nintendo Switch – The Phantom Thieves on the move!
Persona 5 was a highly popular JRPG that released on the PS4 in 2016. It earned plenty of accolades and was well received overall. As much as fans of the genre enjoyed looking at the game, they knew that it would remain on the PlayStation 4.
Currently, there has been strong speculation from a reliable source on Twitter who manages several JRPG sites. He has been told reliable information which spells out Persona 5 on Nintendo Switch will come in 2019 and the official announcement will take place on the day that Joker is released for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on the Fighter Pass.
Nintendo Soup covered the now deleted tweets where Mystic DIstance has stated that Atlus, the developer of the game, has registered P5U.jp and P5R.jp, suggesting that the game could be named Persona 5 Reloaded or Persona 5 Ultimate.
Persona 5 updated release will most likely be titled "Reload" and not "Crimson" imo, especially when we have the domain P5R.

It has been further stated that the port has been of interest to the company since Mid 2017, which could mean that the Nintendo Switch caught their eye. Considering both companies are based in Japan, it comes as no surprise.
Considering the tremendous success of the game on the PlayStation, Nintendo will definitely find a good fit for the game on their console. Considering the game is not very graphically intensive and goes very well with the Nintendo Switch in terms of delivering superb game experiences on the move.
While an official announcement is all we need to seal the deal, Mysic is a respected member of the gaming industry and as such their words carry a lot of weight to them. We will have to wait and see whether a Persona announcement is actually real or not and what the expected release date of the game should be.
