R-Type is a side scrolling shoot-em-up arcade game produced by Irem in 1987. Now R-TYPE Dimensions Ex Release Date for Nintendo Switch and PC has been announced with a trailer.

R-TYPE Dimensions Ex Release Date

Check out the announcement trailer for the Switch and PC version of the classic shoot em up video games

This includes both R-TYPE and R-TYPE II and is headed to both PC and Nintendo Switch on 28th November.

If you pre-order the game, you’ll get a $3 discount, and it will cost you $12 instead of $15.

Here are all the features of this upgraded classic

  • Full Power-Up Mode, which allows players to power their ships to the maximum weapon in Infinite Mode.
  • Fast Forward, the ability to speed up the game in any mode
  • 1080p rendering resolution
  • Two complete games – Includes all eight original R-Type levels and all six original R-Type II levels
  • Multiple gameplay options – Switch between hi-res 2D/3D graphics with revamped music, or play the classic versions with the push of a button
  • Infinite Mode and Level Select – Learn the levels inside and out for the perfect 1CC runs
  • Co-Op Mode – Two players can play together “couch co-op” style or add collision for competitive play
  • Slow-motion play function – Weave through bullets and enemies with ease

So this isn’t just a straight up port, it’s a reworked game, and includes two games. We’re very excited to see how developers and publishers have taken interest in bringing back older classic retro games to modern consoles, especially the Nintendo Switch, the library of which has grown exponentially.
