PSY Gangnam Style views crossed the YouTube’s 32-bit counter limit

PSY Gangnam Style was released back in 2012 and it was an instant hit. It gained the status of YouTube’s most watched video, with 800 million views, breaking the record of Justin Bieber’s ‘Baby’. Then later that year, in December, it crossed the 1 billion views for the first time in History. Today it crossed another mark.

Gangnam Style has been viewed so many times that it crossed the 32-bit integer limit which is 2,147,483,647.  According to YouTube, they never thought that any video would be so awesome to cross the limit of 2.1 billion. But Gangnam Style got so viral that if you are reading the post then you must have seen the video if you were not living in cave for the past 2 years. PSY now has over 7.5 million subscribers on his YouTube channel.

YouTube has now upgraded its counter to 64-bit which is capable of counting up to 9,223,372,036,854,775,808. This equals about 9.2 quintilian which is probably enough forever.
