Halloween may be around the corner, but Niantic is giving its trainers an early treat. Starting on Halloween 20th at 12:00 PM PDT, players of the megahit Pokemon Go will begin experiencing a more frightful game as the second annual Pokemon Go Halloween Event 2017, Halloween event goes live.

For weeks, fans have been speculating about the famed Halloween event, which made its first appearance on the eve of Halloween 2016. Even though it was the first event in the game’s history, it was also deemed the most successful. While things like the Fire and Ice Event or the Valentine’s Day Event simply gave slightly higher chances at rare Pokemon, the Halloween event doled out massive amounts of candy and stardust for each successful catch, hatch, or transfer.

One Spooky Pokemon GO Adventure!

Unrest about this year’s event was finally calmed when Niantic confirmed today that this year’s candy distribution will continue last year’s sugar high – with the treats being doubled for all actions. In addition, spawns of the previous Pokemon will return with 5 new critters from the Hoenn region making their Pokemon Go debut!

  • Zubat, Golbat, and Crobat
  • Drowzee and Hypno
  • Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar
  • Cubone and Marowak (the original ghost of Red and Blue Versions’ Lavender Tower)
  • Misdreavus, Murkrow
  • Houndour and Houndooz
  • Witch Hat Pikachu
  • Shuppet and Banette
  • Sableye
  • Duskull and Dusclops

With this event’s buffs, base Pokemon (Gastly) dole out 6 candy; first stage evolutions (Haunter) are worth 12 candy, and second stage evolutions (Gengar) can give you a profit of at least 20 candy! Factoring in egg hatches, transfers, and the amazing powers of the Pinap Berry double multiplier, trainers’ bags will be overflowing with candy to fully power up those Pokes.

Trainers that brave the night will also be awarded a Mimikyu’s Disguise Hat for their avatar and even a shiny ghoul if they’re lucky. Music during the event may also be hauntingly familiar to those Generation I players so keep an ear out.

Even though the event ends on November 2nd at 1:00 PM PDT, the Hoenn hype is only just beginning. Niantic confirms that the rest of the Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire creatures will be gradually released “as soon as December.” Until then, feel the spirit of Halloween and catch the spirits in Pokemon Go!
