Next-Gen Xbox DevKit are Codenamed ‘Anaconda’ – Potential Hardware Leak Soon?

The next-gen Xbox DevKit are already out in the wild as confirmed by Jez Corden. A famous Microsoft insider. This is not to be confused with the current consumer model codename of Xbox Scarlett. The Next-Gen Xbox DevKit are for developers to get an idea of what they’re dealing with in terms of hardware with the future Xbox with respect to the core elements such as the GPU, CPU, RAM and other hardware aspects of the console. It seems Microsoft has chosen to give these DevKits the codename ‘Anaconda’.

Next-Gen Xbox DevKit codenamed ‘Anaconda’ – Microsoft are big fans of the 90’s?

Whether or not the codename is based off the famous 1997 movie of the same name starring Ice Cube and Jennier Lopez can neither be confirmed nor denied, but what is known is the knowledge shared to us by JezCorden. A famous Microsoft insider.

While the presence of DevKits could indicate that Microsoft is giving developers the whole of 2019 to work on games for the 2020 release of the next-gen Xbox, it could also mean that the hardware and software giant could also be preparing for a grand reveal at E3 2019, which is an opportune time to reveal the console now that Sony is no longer a participant and will have to wait later in the year to reveal their console.

Xbox DevKits are out there, but where is Sony?

JezCorden has only said that the name does go in with previous reptilian animal themes with the current devkit for Xbox One codenamed the Chuckwalla and the Xbox 360 Devkit was codenamed Durango after the Durango Night Lizard. Considering the other 2 codenames were fit for land lizards, this is the first time a codename uses the direct reference of one of the fiercest types of snakes known to man.

Whether or not PS5 devkits are out in the wild is still a mixed bag with many claiming there are and many others claiming there aren’t, what we do know is that Microsoft has officially got a foot ahead in the race for the next generation consoles.
