There were silent whispers going on around the grape vine that a new Portal Game is set to make an appearance at ths years Game Awards, well we have some good news and bad news, The New Portal Game is official, but bad news is, its not part of the canon. Welcome to Bridge Constructor Portal.
The Portal series is one of Valve’s most renowned new IP’s that took the world by storm with its meticulous puzzles, fantastic plot, humorous writing and topped with a great story. While Portal 2 was the last entry for the series, and released for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2011.
While the world had a moment of joy when there were rumors of a new Portal game that was set to make an appearance, it is no more than a fancy version of Polybridge that is coming on all the major gaming platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS.
The game is being published by Headup Games and developed by ClockStone Software. Bridge Constructor Portal will release for Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android devices on December 20th, 2017 with console releases to follow in Early 2018.
While this wasn’t the game that we were hoping for, it seems that Valve has all but taken a bow from the world of gaming, after the mixed reception of Artifact, a DOTA 2 card game, and now this, it seems that Valve is settled on catering to the masses in terms of small games instead of large ambitious projects like they once did when they made games like Left 4 Dead, Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress 2 and more.
While Bridge Constructor Portal is a disappointing New Portal Game, it is at least something to help alleviate the workplace boredom as it gives us the loving humor of Glados to help us with our bridge construction endavors, which should still be for the purposes of science.
We can only hope that players will finally get the cake promised to them in Portal, hopefully it has had some new toppings added to it.
