Today, a very significant leak has surfaced online, the leak shows Intel Roadmap 2018 – 2019 in great detail. It unveils a number of processors that are to be expected in the remaining 2018 and then also next year. However, to our disappointment, the changes that are to be expected are not that impressive. Intel has been given a tough time by AMD since last year when they launched their Ryzen line of processors. In an attempt to gain back their hegemony, Intel has been hard at work to come up with faster processors.
However, in their pursuit for faster processors, Intel hasn’t really done all that much when we compare the current gen processors with the upcoming ones. For example, the Roadmap reveals that Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X will not change much in Q4 of 2018. For the most part, the architecture and other fundamental specs are the same across the current and upcoming generations of processors.
In the consumer roadmap, we can see a bunch of new i7 and i9 processors that are expected to be released in Q4 of 2018. The Kabylake 7th gen i7 processors that succeed the i7 7700K can be seen listed above, however, these are the same architecture as the preceding 7th gen processors and no significant changes have occurred.
The above image clearly shows that the currently available consumer processors i.e. i7-8700K, i5-8600K and i3-8300 will continue to sell until Q4 of 2018. The Coffee Lake refresh processors will surface in the first quarter of 2019. The Coffee lake Refresh will debut such processors as the i9-9900k and i7-9700K.
The Z390 chipset is Intel’s latest and top of the line chipset as of now. It supports Intel’s 8th Gen processors and offer a plethora of features as can be seen above. However, rumors have been circulating that Intel might cancel support for Z390 next year when it introduces new chipset for the upcoming processors.

The extreme class of processors will only be supported by the X299 chipset whereas all enthusiast level processors will either run on Z370 or Z390 chipset.
