Sherlock lovers you have got yourself a treat. We all have heard about the famous detective Sherlock or may have watched his epic movies. But this is a big thing happening for the fans. Sir Ian McKellen has Tweeted the first image of him as the great detective Sherlock Holmes. This image is for the upcoming film titled Mr. Holmes.

Sir Ian McKellen may only be 75 himself, but he will be playing the character of a 93-year-old Sherlock Holmes. The movie is being directed by Boll Condon. The Tweet shows his first look as the elderly Sherlock Holmes. And we must say, he does look sharp.

The film is set in the time of 1947. Sir Ian McKellen plays Holmes who is currently enjoying his retirement with his housekeeper. But they are not alone. There also lives an amateur-sleuthing son of the housekeeper.

The story is based on the novel of Mitch Cullin. This is perhaps the most challenging case Sherlock has ever dealt with. This case is around 50 years ago. He has to do it with Watson at his side and also with the declining mental abilities.

The last time Ian McKellen paired up with director Bill Condon, the elderly yet gracious McKellen was nominated for Best Actor and Condon for Best Adapted Screenplay for their film Gods and Monsters.

Like we said, the Movie will undoubtedly be in the eyes of Sherlock Holmes’ fans and Ian McKellen’s too.

The release of the movie is set for 2015 and is currently in pre-production. What we get from the picture is that they are doing screen tests with Sir Ian Tweeting a picture of his first time in costume as the even green and beloved detective.

The film was originally titled A Slight Trick of the Mind, but the tweet of Sir Ian McKellen reveals that the new title is Mr. Holmes.

Sherlock Holmes has been portrayed over 70 actors and is currently the focus of two TV shows. The Robert Downey Jr. trilogy is also worth mentioning. This shows that everyone is getting the action of Sherlock Holmes and fans are certainly not complaining.
