Recently, Days Gone was released for PC players on Steam and Epic Games. Another much-awaited PlayStation exclusive port to arrive on PC. However, as with the other PlayStation ports on PC, Days Gone has also become a victim of performance issues. Even players with top-notch GPUs have complained about the frame-related issues, and constant stutters and crashes. One of such issues is the poor FPS while on the bike in Days Gone.

Since the game has only been out for a few hours, we’ll have to wait a few days for an official patch from Bend Studio. However, there are a few solutions that you can try to temporarily fix the problem. In this article, we will explain how you can fix the poor FPS while on the bike in Days Gone, on PC.

How To Fix Poor FPS While On Bike In Days Gone On PC?

Before you attempt any of the resolutions mentioned below, you have to make sure that your computer meets the minimum system requirements for Days Gone. If it does not, there’s no point in attempting any of the resolutions, as your computer can’t run the game.

Recommended:

  • Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-4770K @ 3.5GHz or Ryzen 5 1500X @ 3.5GHz
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • Video Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 (6 GB) or AMD Radeon RX 580 (8 GB)
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Storage: 70 GB available space
  • Additional Notes: Though not required, SSD for storage and 16 GB of memory is recommended

Method #1 — Update Your GPU Drivers:

Since Days Gone is a fairly new game, both AMD and NVIDIA have released optimized drivers for it. If you’re using a discrete GPU, it is important that you update your drivers to the most up-to-date ones, as they would be compatible with the game. You can download the most up-to-date drivers from your GPU manufacturer’s website; AMD or NVIDIA.

Method #2 — Switch The Audio Output Device:

While this may seem like a joke, we can assure you that it’s not. Courtesy of chrschtian, yo! (post) on Steam, Days Gone only seems to face performance issues on the bike when the audio output device is set to your headphones. We don’t know why this happens, but it’s a rather annoying bug that can be fixed by changing the audio output device to anything but the headphones. If you have external speakers connected or your monitor has built-in speakers, we’d recommend changing the audio output device to that. This seems to be the only solution to this common issue for now!

Method #3 — Update Windows 10:

Every now and then, Microsoft releases updates for Windows 10. These updates optimize the operating system and remove any previous performance issues. If you haven’t updated Windows 10 in a while, this may be your call to do so. You may already have automatic updates on Windows 10 enabled but you can also manually check if your Windows is up-to-date by going to Settings and then to Update & Security.
