For the most part, Hades performs very well, and most users have no trouble getting into the game. However, there are a few users that are struggling to launch the title. If you are one of those, here are a few things you can try to fix it.

Fix 1: Disable Steam Overlay

  • Right-click on Hades in your Steam Library
  • Select ‘Properties…’
  • Toggle ‘Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game’

Fix 2: Run the game in Windowed mode manually

  • Right-click on Hades in your Steam Library
  • Select ‘Properties…’
  • Press the button that says ‘Set Launch Options…’
  • Enter the following: /FullScreen=false /NoBorder=true /X=1920 /Y=1080

Fix 3: Verify Game Files

  • Right-click on Hades in your Steam Library
  • Select ‘Properties…’, then select the ‘Local Files‘ tab
  • Select ‘Verify Integrity of Game Files...’

Fix 4: Conflict with McAfee Antivirus Software

Disable the Real-Time Scanning in the anti-virus software and try running the title again. This is a conflict that the game has with the software, and the developers are working to resolve it.

Fix 5: Run the game as admin through it’s installation folder

If the game isn’t launching through Steam, you can always try running it directly from the folder.

To do this, head over to where the game is installed

  • Open the respective x86 or x64 folder that fits your machine
  • Here, you will find the Hades.exe
  • Right-click it, and select Properties, and select the Compatibility tab
  • Now, click on Run this program as an administrator

Fix 6: Download the latest Visual C++ redistributable

Make sure you have downloaded and installed the latest Visual C++ redistributable.

Fix 7: Download the D3DCOMPILER_47.DLL

Now, a few users have noted that downloading this dll file and placing it in the Hades.exe folder has fixed the game for them. You can download this from the following link.

If all else fails, you can contact Supergiant Games and they will sort you out.
