Capcom has brought Resident Evil 2 to the forefront of gaming again with the release of the 2019 remake. The game has received some excellent reviews and players couldn’t be any happier having got the opportunity to relive their favorite childhood game. However, as always, some PC players have reported that they are experiencing certain frame drop/stuttering issues with the game. hence, I’ll show you in this article how to Boost FPS in Resident Evil 2 so that you can enjoy a more smooth game.

How To Boost FPS in Resident Evil 2 PC With These Performance Tips

The main issues players are facing on PC are related to drastic fps drops which result in stutter and another issue where the game crashes 15 mins after the game starts.

Before we start off with the tips, make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your respective GPUs. Click Here to download latest Nvidia Drivers and here to download the latest AMD drivers.

  • Fix Stutter/Fps Drop

  1. Some players have reported that capping the frame rate fixes this issue. Suppose your system cannot handle a stable 60 fps and keeps dropping to 30, this will inevitably cause stutter. To fix this you can install MSI Afterburner coupled with RivaTuner statistics server. RiveTuner lets you manually set a limit on fps on any given game. Simply enter the fps value in “Framerate limit” box and press enter.
  2. Players have also reported that using fullscreen rather than borderless fullscreen helps in acquiring a slightly better fps count.
  • Boost FPS on Nvidia GPUs

  1. If You have an Nvidia GPU, you can tweak some settings from “Nvidia Control Panel” to achieve higher fps.
Right click on the desktop and then click on Nvidia Control Panel. Click on “Manage 3d settings” on the left. Now choose Resident Evil 2 from “program settings”. Now change Power management mode to “Prefer Maximum Power”.
  2. In the same Nvidia Control Panel, you can change “pre-rendered frames” to 1, this improves performance on less powerful systems.
  3. Another useful tweak in Nvidia Settings is to turn shader cache on. In most cases this would help improve FPS. You can always revert back to default settings should you notice any negative change in the performance of the game.
