Snapchap users have been complaining about the recently released update that changed much of the user interface of the app that people have gotten used to. If you are one of those people who is frustrated with the new update then don’t worry as we have got you covered. Yes! that’s right, there is indeed a way to revert back to the good old Snapchat version and here is how you do it.
Revert back to the Old Snapchat version
Alright, so we’re going to show you how to revert from Snapchat’s latest update to the original design and user experience on an Android and iOS device.However, do note that your iPhone must be jailbroken for this method to work.
Change Snapchat New Look to Old on iOS (Jailbroken + Cydia)
Step 1- Start off by launching Cydia on your device and then head to the ‘Sources’ section. The “Sources” section allows you to add a new source. What we are going to do is add the CokePokes’ repository in order to download a specific tweak. Add this source.
Step 2- Using the search functionality in Cydia, try to find “snapdecent” tweak. When it is located, download and install the tweak to the jailbroken device. You may want to restart the iPhone if prompted.
…and there you have it guys, that is all which is needed to get the old Snapchat version back on your jailbroken iPhone, Enjoy!
iOS (Jailbroken minus Cydia)
Requirements:
- The latest version of the Electra jailbreak. This is only needed if your device isn’t already jailbroken.
- Cydia Impactor. Download it from cydiaimpactor.com. This lets you get the relevant IPA file onto your device.
- A Snapchat IPA file which is version 10.23.0.6 or lower. You can find this version on web.
Step 1- First of all, your device should be running iOS 11.0 through to iOS 11.1.2 and be jailbroken using Electra for this guide to work.
Step 2- Now you should confirm that the existing Snapchat app (the newest version, the one you don’t like remember) is deleted entirely from the jailbroken device. Then launch Cydia Impactor. You are now going to need the above mentioned Snapchat IPA.
Step 3- Now Drag the old version of Snapchap IPA into the Cydia Impactor interface. Follow the steps shown on your screen through and then add the necessary Apple ID credentials when asked. This will sign the IPA and get it installed on the device without any App Store interference.
Step 4- Now you have to delete the Electra jailbreak app from your jailbroken iPhone. After that install the Immortal tweak. You can either do this manually – since Electra doesn’t come with Cydia yet – or you can use the Tweak Installer app to do it. Respring your iPhone as soon as it’s installed.
Step 5- Now uninstall the immortal tweak and once again respring the device. Reinstall the Electra app using the same method as previously with Cydia Impactor.
Step 6- You can now launch the sideloaded Snapchat app and sign in with your account credentials. You should be all set to go with the old user-interface.
Change Snapchat New Look to New on Android (APK Download)
Step 1- First and foremost, make sure that you delete the current version of Snapchat from your Android device. Remove it entirely and say goodbye to that new UI.
Step 2- You will need to get an older version of Snapchat which contains the older user-interface. You can grab the Snapchat 10.22.7.0 APK from here.
Step 3- Copy the APK file you downloaded to the storage of your mobile or just directly download the file through the web browser of your smartphone. You will also need to enable install from “unknown sources” from settings.
Step 4- When you have installed the app, you can head to the Play Store, navigate to the Snapchat, and disable the automatic updates associated with that app. This will ensure that no new version of Snapchat is downloaded.
and that’s about it. You now have the old Snapchat version installed on your smartphone.
