Fortnite Week 1 Challenges(Season 5): How to Solve Them [Guide]

Fortnite Week 1 Challenges

New Season, new start. Season 5 has just begun in Fortnite, and that means everybody is starting from zero. The Fortnite: Weekly Challenges are also back! This time different than the last. If some of your challenges from Season 4 were left not completed, then you have bad luck. Because those challenges can’t be done now. If these new challenges pose a hurdle for you, chill out. We got you covered as always. Here’s a full guide on how to complete the new Fortnite Week 1 Challenges.

Things are a little bit different this time around. Epic Games has switched up the game a little. Now even if you haven’t gotten the battle pass you can complete the weekly challenges. But you’ll only be able to complete three of them. The remaining four are only available for premium players as in players with a battle pass.

Additionally, and while all challenges continue to reward you with varying amounts of Battle Stars, you’ll only get the bonus XP stash if you complete at least four of the challenges in any given week. That means those of you who don’t own the Battle Pass will not be able to unlock the extra 5,000 XP that’s on offer in Week 1 or any other week.

Regardless of whether you’re a free-to-play fan of Fortnite or you’ve paid for the Battle Pass, you’ll be able to get an overview of all the challenges available in Week 1 of Season 5 right here. We’ve also got tips for completing each one, and we’ll also produce breakout guides that dig deeper into finishing the toughest ones.

These are all of the challenges available in Week 1 of Fortnite Season 5, then, but how do you complete them all? Good question, and in the rest of this article we’ll go through each task one by one.

Deal damage with SMGs to opponents

Fortnite Week 1 Challenges

Found an SMG? Great, now start spraying it at opponents whenever the opportunity to do so presents itself. You have to do a total of 500 points of damage using the weapon to finish this one, but you can, of course, work on it over multiple engagements, and indeed matches.

The SMG is an incredibly popular weapon to wield in Fortnite, and so you should find yourself completing this one just through natural gameplay.

Search a Supply Llama

Fortnite Week 1 Challenges

Supply llamas are located here, there and everywhere on the Fortnite map, and so it’s difficult to give specific advice on how to track one down. The good news is that you only have to search one of these items, so keep your eyes peeled and if you can search one uninterrupted, get it bagged and tick the task off your list.

You’ve got the whole of Season 5 to finish this one up, so Lady Luck should favor you sooner or later!

Clinger, Stink Bomb, or Grenade Eliminations

You have to kill three opponents using any of these three weapons in order to make progress on this Week 1 Challenge.

Bear in mind that you don’t have to kill them in one go or anything like that. Instead, you can soften them up with whatever weapon you’re comfortable with, and then do the last bit of damage using one of these specific tools.

This is one of those challenges you should just keep at the back of your mind, and then take action should you happen to find yourself in possession of one of these weapons and in a good opportunity to capitalize on them.

Search Chests in Snobby Shores

If you’ve played much Fortnite at all then you’ll be well-accustomed to scavenging through chests in order to get your hands on weapons and other handy items.

To get this one cleared, you simply need to do that rummaging while in the Snobby Shores zone. Chests are all over the place in this location but do expect some stiff competition if you decide to work on this one in the early days of the first week.

Search floating Lightning Bolts

Wander the map and keep your eyes skyward and you might notice little Lightning Bolt icons in the sky. You need to interact with seven of these to finish the task.

The potentially bad news is that you are almost certainly going to have to build your way to the location of each one, as they’re quite high up and typically don’t have any nearby terrain or infrastructure to exploit.

These can be quite tricky to track down, and so we’re maintaining a Lightning Bolt locations page which contains all of the spots we’re aware of so far. If you’ve found any others, we’d love you to sign up and comment so we can make this resource as useful for everyone as possible!

Follow the treasure map found in Risky Reels

Treasure maps continue to be a thing in Season 5 of Fortnite. In order to get your hands on these bonus Battle Stars, you’ll have to, first of all, find the starting clue in Risky Reels, work out the solution, and then travel to the location of the stars to pick them up.

The good news is that you don’t need to pick up the clue first – it’s just an environmental thing – and you can just head straight to the hidden Battle Stars. We’ve set up a dedicated Risky Reels Treasure Map guide which contains a video walkthrough and a very brief breakdown of the steps involved.

Eliminate opponents in Retail Row

In order to finish this Fortnite Week 1 challenges, you’re going to have to get three kills while you’re specifically within the Retail Row zone.

Be aware that it is going to be extremely busy in this zone in the early days of Week 1, and so you might want to come back here a little later on. If you’re not that sharp of a shot, you may find yourself providing other players with the skills they need…

Something else to keep in mind is that you have the entirety of Season 5 to finish this challenge, so you can always come back later. You’ll often find you tick these kinds of tasks off naturally as you play the game across the entire season. For the latest news and updates stay tuned to TheNerdMag.
