BlackBerry Messenger sets new download records on Android and iOS

BlackBerry Messenger was released a day before after a long wait. It was to be released exactly a month ago but BlackBerry paused the roll out of BlackBerry Messenger BBM because of some issues. The roll out was resumed the day before yesterday and the results are amazing.

According to Google, BBM for Android has been downloaded between 1 million to 5 million times on Android in first 24 hours. That is really impressive. Moreover, it currently ranks second in free apps in iTunes.

BBM is not available for everyone just now, You’ll have to provide your email address and will have to wait in queue to start chatting, but if you have already registered before then you can start chatting immediately.

BlackBerry Messenger is an  instant messaging service app just like popular WhatsApp which recently hit 350 million monthly active users (that is more than twitter). But the difference between WhatsApp and BBM is that WhatsApp uses your phone number to chat but BBM uses a unique pin to add contacts. You can share your pin with anyone you want to chat so we think both of the messengers should be installed in your phone in order to enable you to chat freely.
