You will seldom hear someone talking about Huawei’s laptop computers but that doesn’t mean Huawei has nothing to offer, in fact, Huawei has a laptop line by the name of Matebook and their newest addition to their family of notebooks is the new MateBook X pro. The MateBook X Pro was first revealed by Huawei at MWC this year and now its available for Purchase all over the world. MateBook X Pro is a successor to last year’s model which was MateBook X. The newer current model has a lot of improvements and offers top of the line features in a very thin and sleek package.

The MateBook X Pro does remind you of a certain brand of laptops when you look at it. You guessed it, Huawei takes their inspiration from Apple’s MacBook line which is very evident in their design. At a glance, the MateBook X Pro appears impressively stylish with its thin and refined bezels, solid silver color on a premium aluminum body. It has all the extravagances of a premium looking laptop. What stands out the most is the bigger screen from its competitors in a similar price range. The thin bezels allow for the screen to be comparatively bigger without increasing the actual size of the laptop.

MateBook X Pro Colors and Weight:

The MateBook X pro only weighs 1.33 kgs. It has a thickness of only 14.6 mm and height and width of 217 mm and 302mm respectively. It comes in two colors: Mystic Silver and Space Grey.

Huawei MateBook X Pro Display

MateBook X Pro features a stunning 13.9 inches touch Display with a resolution of a whopping 3000×2000. This translates to 260 pixels per inch, which for a laptop means that the display would be crystal clear and sharp. The screen also offers a full RGB color gamut, a brightness level of 450 nits which we agree isn’t the highest but considering the form factor, we can make do. The contrast ratio for the screen is 1500:1. Huawei claims that you will be able to enjoy full 4K video support, however, technically the resolution falls short of 4K but you should still be able to see higher details than conventional laptop screens.

The Unusual Webcam Placement

One of the most iconic features of the MateBook X Pro emanates from the bezels being too thin to accommodate a webcam in the conventional spot. hence, Huawei has shifted the webcam to the very top row of keys on the keyboard. It remains concealed under what looks like a normal keyboard key until pressed which would then reveal the webcam. This actually might be good news for privacy fanatics who feel the need to cover their webcam with tape or some other sticky paper. However, nothing much can be said about the camera angles for now, due to the very low placement. one can’t help but question how the webcam video would look like.
