Paladins Adds In-Game Voice Chat for Nintendo Switch

Xbox and Switch Cross Platform Games
Paladins on Nintendo Switch

In Paladins latest Steel Forged update, the game has added a lot of fixes, improvements, and more reasons for people to play the free-to-play shooter. However, one of the best additions to the patch is the ability for Nintendo Switch players to use the in-game voice chat! A feature present in few games on the system.

Paladin fans on Nintendo Switch are about to be very happy!

Paladins is a game that may not be as big as other FPS competitors, but with great features like cross-play between different platform, being free to play, and having a very friendly community.

However robust one might consider the Nintendo Switch to be, it still can be cumbersome to use basic voice chat. For games like Splatoon 2 or Mario Kart 8, you need to have the companion Nintendo app installed on your phone and use it as your voice chat medium.

Nintendo is the only gaming platform to have such a ridiculous way of communication instead of plug and play offered by its competitors.

However, things have improved with Paladins on the Nintendo Switch, as you can now connect your microphone for easy and convenient in-game voice chat. The only other game I know that allows this feature is Epic Games’s Fortnite. Another game which offers a broad variety of cross-platform gameplay.

You can see the feature mentioned in the patch notes:

  • Voice chat has been added to the Switch. Enable voice chat in the “Audio” tab of your options menu!

This means that now all you need to do is plug in a 3.5mm earphone or headphone into the jack of your Switch, and you’re ready to talk!

In a game like Paladins, communication is key, so it is good to see Paladins adding the feature so that the communication gap between PC, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch players is finally closed.

The game is among a slim library on the Nintendo Switch where you can play an online game without needing the Nintendo Switch Online Subscription.

With this feature, you might want to consider giving the game a second chance if you haven’t already. If you are looking for a good alternative to Overwatch on the system, this is the closest you’re going to get.
