Fast Travel in Red Dead Redemption 2

In Red Dead Redemption 2, there are three types of fast travel, we’ll be going over each type below

Free Fast Travel

To unlock the free fast travel option, you need to upgrade your camp. To unlock camp upgrades, you need to complete the Strauss’s story mission “Money Lending and other Sins”. After you are done with this, a ledger next to the tithing box will appear where you can access camp upgrades.

When you’re done with this, go unlock the following upgrades

  • “First Things First” ($220)
  • “Next in Line” ($325)

This will unlock the ability for you to fast travel to the town locations, keep in mind, that you can only travel to these locations and not back, that’s where the other type of fast travel options come in.

To access this one, use the map behind Arthur’s tent.

Train Fast Travel

The next type of fast travel is Train Fast Travel, you can buy tickets at the post office and the price of the ticket will increase according to the distance.

The only real issue with this one is, you’ll probably have to take multiple trains because not every point is connected. The upside is that you can use this fast travel mode even if you have a bounty on your head.

However, this mean of fast travel is instant, and it saves a lot of time at the cost of a few dollars.

Stagecoach Fast Travel

This fast travel type allows you to fast travel to stagecoach posts in each town, the pricing is similar to the train system.

The problem with this is that you can’t use this option if you have a bounty on your head, you’ll need to first pay that and then fast travel, so it’s recommended to avoid this since it becomes quite costly, however, you can travel to more locations using the stagecoach than the train.
