Till today, we have not learnt anything big regarding Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 9. We know that Windows 9 will release next year with some handy features. But what they will be? We are not sure yet! Prior to that, Microsoft plans to bring Windows 8.1 Update 2 in a month or two. As told earlier in our related posts, the Update 2 will feature Start Menu with windowed metro apps.

However, a recent report from Neowin suggests Cortana Voice Assistant coming to Windows Desktop. Microsoft’s Cortana made its debut in Windows Phone 8.1 and has received positive reviews. For me, it’s far better than Google Now and Apple SIRI. You can do a lot of stuff via Cortana. Now, Microsoft is working to deeply integrate Cortana in its upcoming Windows 9. Microsoft plans to make Cortana accessible right from the desktop. Till the OS release, the company will continue adding more features to Cortana.

Also, Microsoft is planning to add Virtual Desktops. The feature is already there in Apple Mac OS. However, Windows users have been making use of third party softwares to perform the task. The feature will enable users to create separate active desktops and switch between them. To give desktop a new design and focus, Charms Menu will also be removed in Windows 9. Since its introduction in Windows 8.1, desktop users have been complaining about its interruption i.e. its sensitive launch when cursor moves to screen corners.

Other than that, Microsoft also plans to add Bing Search to Windows Desktop. The new Windows 9 will also come with new Internet Explorer and security features. That’s all from our side! Stay tuned to TheNerdMag to catch more.
