The long-rumored VLC app for Windows Phone is finally nearing its release. The app will first release in beta version, following the public release later just like the Windows 8 app. This is confirmed by the developer Thomas Nighro. Have a look on the tweet made by him,

The August release indicates that the app is in final stages of its development. VLC app for Windows Phone will required the latest OS build i.e. 8.1. The app will be a perfect alternative for Xbox Music. Moreover, it will be the first popular 3rd party media player to arrive on Windows Phone. Like desktop version, VLC app for Windows Phone will support wide-range of media formats i.e. MKV, FLV, MP4 etc. The interface will resemble the Windows app.

It’s not confirmed whether the app will support SRT files like on Windows version. However, if not in the first release, we can expect to get this feature in later updates. Are you excited about this great news? Don’t miss to have your thoughts below.
