TPL Maps and Telenor Pakistan Joined hands to Strengthen the Digital Mapping in Pakistan

TPL Maps is an alternative to Google Maps and Bing Maps specifically designed for Pakistani users. It was launched in August this year and it has been downloaded by 100,000+ iOS and Android users.

Today, Telenor Pakistan and TPL Maps join hand in order to strengthen the digital mapping in Pakistan. Telenor Pakitan is known for taking this kind of initiatives and promoting the digital industry of Pakistan. Now they have signed an agreement with TPL Mapping solutions to make the digital mapping better in Pakistan.

In the agreement, both companies plan to expand the TPL Mapping Solutions beyond smartphones. Telenor users will be able to use the TPL for free on Telenor 3G/4G under internet.org. A lite version of the app is also part of the plans to make it accessible to the huge population which does not have high-end smartphones and high-speed data connection.

Here are the key points of the agreement signed between these two technology giants.

  • Extend the Maps solution to a wider audience beyond smartphones.
  • TPL Maps to become part of the internet.org program for Telenor users, TPL will especially make a lite version of TPL Maps to make it accessible to a huge population.
  • All Telenor customer Sales & Service Centers and Easy Paisa outlets will be added in TPL Maps with Telenor branding.
  • Both companies agreed for cross promotion, Telenor will promote TPL Maps on digital channels and TPL maps will incorporate in-app promotion of Telenor products and services.

TPL Maps is great for Pakistani users, it has over 2.3 million points of interests (POIs) to choose from. The Maps has over 400,000 km road network and 1 million distinct housing addresses. It covers more than 100 areas and cities across Pakistan. It also has over 1000 3D structures of important landmarks across Pakistan.
