How to Root T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 on latest UVUCNB4 Android 4.4 KitKat?

Samsung has started rolling the official Android 4.4.2 KitKat update to its handsets. On most of the handsets, the update is available via OTA. But some users need to perform the procedure manually. In our last post, we informed you about the method to install Android 4.4.2 KitKat update on Galaxy Note 3 manually. Remember, the official update is named as ‘UVUCNB4’.

Well, after installing the latest update on T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3, your device does not remain rooted. So if you want to root T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 on UVUCNB4 Android 4.4 KitKat OS, below is the procedure.

Rooting T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 on UVUCNB4 Android 4.4 KitKat:

Before you start the procedure of ‘rooting’, consider these points:

  • Most importantly, back up your device.
  • Make sure, you have downloaded the Samsung USB Driver. To do so, click here.
  • Enable ‘Debugging Mode’ on your device. To do so, head to Menu > Settings > Developer Options.
  • Disable the working of Samsung KIES Software along with Antivirus software if present. Both softwares can hinder the working of ODIN tool.
  • Remove any external SD card if present in your device.
  • Make sure to have sufficient amount of battery in your device i.e. more than 50%.

The method is specific for T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 phablet, trying it on other devices may brick your device.

Steps to Root T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3:

After considering the pre-requisites, let’s move to the actual process of rooting,

    1. First of all, download ODIN tool (Source 1 | Source 2). Unzip its contents to a folder on desktop.
    2. Now, download the root package from here. Extract its contents to the same folder on desktop.
    3. Install the ODIN tool on your PC.
    4. Run the ODIN tool.
    5. Switch off your device. Reboot the device in ‘Download Mode’ by pressing Volume Down, Home and Power button simultaneously.
    6. Now, connect your device with PC via USB Cable.
    7. If the tool recognizes your device, the ID:COM section will turn Yellow or Blue and ‘added’ message will be displayed. (If the tool does not recognize, try installing the drivers again. Reboot your device and re-apply the settings)
    8. Now on ODIN, click on ‘PA’ option.
    9. Select the downloaded root file from the desktop.
    10. Now, just click on ‘Start’ button to begin the process of ‘rooting’.
    11. As the process completes, a ‘pass’ message will be displayed. The ID:COM section will turn Green.
    12. Disconnect your device and reboot it.

You have now successfully rooted your T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 device. Now, you can enjoy having custom ROMs and a lot more stuff on your device.
