How to Install Official Android 4.4.2 KitKat update on T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3?

Samsung has finally released the official Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Galaxy Note 3 T-Mobile version. Previously the update was rolled out for Sprint Galaxy Note 3 devices. The firmware update for T-Mobile version is named as TUVUCNB4 and is now available via OTA update. However there are many T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 devices which have not yet received the update.

Here is the manual procedure for installing the update on such devices. Moreover, the procedure can also be followed for rooted Galaxy Note 3 devices. The procedure can also be followed on devices which are having issues while performing OTA update.

Installing official Android 4.4.2 KitKat update on T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3:

Before you start installing the update on T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3, make sure you have perform following tasks:

  • Download Samsung USB Drivers on your PC from here
  • Also, disable the working of Antivirus software and Samsung KIES Software as it may not allow ODIN tool to function.
  • Enable ‘Debugging Mode’ on your T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 device. Go to ‘Settings’, then ‘Developer options’ to enable it.
  • Backup your device so that you can revert back if you stuck somewhere.
  • Have sufficient amount of battery about 50% so that your phone may not go off while you are applying the procedure.

Procedure for Installing Android 4.4.2 KitKat update:

Now it’s time to start the actual procedure. Here are the steps:

  1. Download the TUVUCNB4 Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware from here.
  2. Extract its contents to a new folder on desktop.
  3. Also, download ODIN3 v3.09 tool from here (Source 1 | Source 2). Extract its contents to the same folder on desktop.
  4. Install the ODIN tool on your PC.
  5. Turn off your device and boot it in Download Mode by pressing Volume Down, Home and Power button simultaneously.
  6. Run the ODIN tool on your PC.
  7. Connect your PC with device via USB cable.
  8. After some while, you will see ‘added’ message displayed on your device. Also you will see ID:COM section turning Yellow or Blue. (In case of NOT, re-plug the cable or try installing drivers again)
  9. On ODIN tool, click on ‘PA’ option.
  10. Chose the downloaded firmware placed on desktop.
  11. Without doing any else change, click on ‘start’.
  12. As the progress completes, the ODIN tool ID:COM section will turn Green showing ‘Pass’ message.
  13. Disconnect the cable and reboot your T-Moblie Galaxy Note 3 device. Enjoy the latest firmware on your device.
