Apple’s iPhone 6s Event: A Complete Overview

Apple-iPhone-6

With every Apple event we kinda think that this must only be an iPad event or an iPhone event or just an Apple TV event, but no, not at all, this event was one of the most news-packed and thrilling event that almost gave some of us goosebumps.

Before I talk about more irrelevant stuff, I think it’s better if I jump to the stuff you came for.

A Bigger and Better iPad

The new iPad Pro has the biggest screen on an iOS device yet. It supports a full-sized virtual keyboard, and will be the first iPad to feature an optional physical keyboard and stylus. Did I mention that it is sized at 12.9 inches? I didn’t?! My bad.

The Apple Pencil

Who thought that Apple would introduce something like the Apple Pencil? This Pencil is a huge change in direction from Tim Cook because Steve Jobs had trashed styluses when the original iPad came out. iPad Pro stylus a.k.a. Apple Pencil reportedly allows its user to draw with precision and can be used simultaneously with a finger. Along with the stylus, there is the new $169 woven “smart keyboard” – which by the way looks a lot like the Microsoft’s surface keyboards. Both of these Apple made accessories will be out in November, along with the iPad Pro.

The iPad mini

The iPad Pro may have stolen the show but the iPad mini is not something that is to be forgotten. The refreshed iPad mini 4, a new 7.9-inch tablet with the power of the iPad Air 2, will cost $399 and the iPad mini 2 will see price reduction $269.

The New Apple TV

The time has finally arrived and we see in-front of us – metaphorically – the new Apple TV which features the new tvOS. The new Apple TV will have a Universal Search feature that lets you search across apps like iTunes, Netflix, and Hulu. Voice search will be the primary way to navigate. You can even ask stuff like “what did he say?” and Siri will do a quick 15 second rewind.

The Apple TV will/can also be used as a gaming console. The UI has also been refreshed, featuring a new white background and redesigned apps. The new Apple TV features a 64-bit A8 processor and can support Bluetooth 4.0. It will launch in October and will be priced at $149 and $199 for the 32GB and 64GB version respectively.

Siri Enabled Remote

Like mentioned above, the new Apple TV supports voice searches via Siri which is integrated in the TV remote. The device is a blend of traditional media remote, glass trackpad, motion controller, and Siri invocation tool. If you turn the TV sideways, it make use of itself as a rudimentary gaming pad.

Features of the Apple TV

The fourth-generation Apple TV has an Apple Music app, a feature that has been noticeably absent since the service launched in June. The function and nature of the app will be the same as it iOS and Mac counterparts. The TV will also have its own App Store, where users can find versions of iTunes TV, iTunes Movies, and Apple Music, all designed specifically for the Apple TV.

The new TV will also include games like Disney Infinity and Guitar Hero, and a Major League Baseball steaming app that lets users watch two games at once – how neat is that – and apps for AirBnB and Zillow which will help you look for an apartment through your television. A developer beta of the new tvOS will also let developers create their own apps for the TV.

Rosier iPhone 6s

The event was always about introducing the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus – though they made us wait for it till the very end. These top-notch devices will be built from a new, custom aluminum alloy, and will be available in silver, gold, space grey, and the new rose gold. They will have the Force Touch – now known as 3D touch – which can detect different pressures of touch. The screen sizes of both devices remains the same but with one major difference, both devices now feature the new glass display built of Ion-X.

With upgraded under-the-hood hardware and the premium feel of the phones, there is no stopping Apple from stealing all the shares of the market once again.

Force Touch is now 3D Touch

Apple brought 3D Touch to the new iPhones today. If you don’t already know what it does, the 3D touch enables the device to detect/distinguish between multiple levels of pressure. 3D Touch will require users to learn at least two new gestures: “peek” and “pop,” which will make app browsing more direct. “Peek” will let users preview information, and “Pop” will take them inside it.

The Apple Watch

With some upgradation on the look and feel of the Apple Watch, it just got slightly better-looking and more useful. One of the new bands – that was announced today – is designed by a luxury brand named Hermès, whose three custom brown leather straps include a double-wrapped band that fits with a custom, slightly elongated watch face.

Along with this new band, several new pastel-colored bands for the Apple Watch Sport, and red band created in collaboration with Bono’s HIV/AIDS charity Product Red. The aluminum Sport just got more luxurious (expensive to be exact) with additional colors in gold, rose gold, and anodized aluminum finishes. The Watch will run on the latest operating software, Watch OS 2.
