Apple removes Launcher app from iTunes for misusing iOS 8 widget feature

With the introduction of iOS 8, Apple opened the gates for third party developers to customize its mobile OS. The Cupertino allowed the development of custom keyboards and widgets. We have seen a number of iOS custom keyboards and widgets for now. However, it seems like some apps are misusing iOS 8 widget feature. Launcher app is one of them!

The popular app ‘Launcher’ let you create shortcuts for URLs and applications. These shortcuts will be displayed at the Notification Center. You can do a variety of tasks i.e. starting a new phone call, creating a message and more. However, Apple has now removed the Launcher app from iTunes. It is not expected to go live till the iOS widget feature remains in it or its get limited, this is what Apple says regarding the app removal.

So, what about the users who already have got the Launcher app? Well, they can still use it but can’t purchase upgrades. Those who had already purchased PRO features, can enjoy the pro capabilities. The developer promises to bring updates and new features to the Launcher app from its own servers. Let’s see what’s going to be the next step of Apple!
