Afterpulse is a Call of Duty like game for iPhone and iPad

Different developers claim that quality wise their games are just like console games but it is not the case in most of the games. But when we looked at the “Afterpulse” for iOS, we felt that console quality games are literally possible on mobile devices and this game is the proof in itself.

The best part about this game (which we couldn’t believe at first) is that it is only about 400 MB in size and graphics are probably one of the best ones in any mobile game. The lightning, sounds and shadows, everything is at its best and it surely gives a feeling that you are playing Call of Duty on your phone.

The game is truly a free roaming game where you can move wherever you want on the map. It is not like you have to follow a path or a specific route to go through, you can literally move around wherever you want. It is a fast paced game and controls are optimized for touch devices at its best. You can quickly and easily aim at an enemy while running and shooting.

There is a wide variety of weapons which you can equip, unlock, collect and upgrade to use against other enemies. Characters in this game are totally customizable. You can make your character look as you want. Moreover, you can find a weapon and modify your player for the play style you want. For example, you can pick assault, heavy duty, hit and run etc.

The game starts with a training match with bots. After spending a few minutes on some tutorial missions, the player can directly play a multiplayer game with other human players. The game uses matchmaking to find the players that match your level. So that you don’t come across with professionals right away and the game does not get boring so fast.

However, players can purchase a 6-star gun for around $4 through in-app purchases. This thing is a little bit annoying as some players might purchase heavy weapons in the beginning and other players, who have not purchased anything, will feel like they are just useless in the game and it might lose their interest in the game. There are a number of multiplayer maps to choose from.

Covers mechanics are not perfected in Afterpulse. It’s pretty much running and shooting so there is no time to hide behind some obstacle. There is a health bar at the top right of the screen, the health goes down when you get a shot but it regenerates over time. After about five seconds, the health gets maximum again.

The conclusion is, if you are looking for a Call of Duty like experience on your iPhone or iPad, you must try this Afterpulse. This game is a great example of how far the mobile gaming could go. From graphics to gameplay,  multiplayer to weapons, customizations to controls, everything is just amazing and enjoyable.
